  • 3. Set links

1. Edit texts

  • Click on Content > Article Manager
  • You will see a list of articles
  • You can use the search function or you can click on Search Tools and select a category in which the article is published. It makes sense to have a look at the categories and understand the category structure of your website first. So click throught the categories and learn which articles of your website are found under which category.

Joomla Content Editor

You will see the Joomla Content Editor now which you can use to edit texts and upload pictures and videos. The icons in the top row of the editor are known from any common text editor like MS Word.

The icons in the second row are website specific and explained during this documentation.

Some notes on the editor:

  • When you copy in text from a normal text editor like word then often a preformatted code is delivered. The best thing here is to mark the copied text in the content article of your website and then afterwards use the "Cleanup HTML" and "Remove formatting" buttons.

  • It is recommended that you use the following formating for your articles:
  • Headline 1 for main headlines. Please use only once!
  • Headine 2 or Headline 3 for secondary / tertiary headlines and so on.
  • Paragraph for normal texts.
  • Please note: Headings are very important for Search Engine optimization, especially the Heading 1
  • You can change the headings and styles of the text with the Format Button

  • When you are done with your editing, click "Save" on top of the page and navigate to the Frontend of the website to check if everything is working correctly. If you made a mistake and the article is somehow broken you can go to an earlier version of the article.

PLEASE NOTE: Everything that is written inbetween these brackets {  } should not me changed please!

2. Going back to an earlier version of the article

  • If something didn't work out properly you will find the "Versions" button on top of the site.

Pic05

  • Click on the button and you will see a list of earlier versions of the article. You can restore an earlier version by ticking the tickbox of a previous date and click on "Restore". Afterwards Save again.

3. Link to own or other pages

  • For Linking we use the link button

Pic06

  • You can mark a text you want to link to and use the Insert/Edit link icon.
  • The Link manager will open which you can use to set external links or links to your own page.

Links to own page

  • In the middle section of the link manager you will find the content and menu structure of your website. You can for example set a link to a menu item of your site with clicking in the menu and on the specific sub menu. At the bottom of the link manager you will find a title attribute. It is recommended for good search engine optimization to write a meaningful link title attribute.

Links to an external page

  • You can just copy the url of the external page into the url textfield (on the top section of the link manager). Please note: If you link to a different site please set the Target (at the bottom under attributes) to "New Window".
