Baxu and the Giants Screening at Swakopmund Museum

On 3 March at 18 o’clock we invite you to a public screening of the new Namibian film “Baxu and the Giants” on rhino poaching followed by a public discussion with the director Florian Schott and Save the Rhino Trust. The entrance is free, donations welcome. All the donations will go to the Save the Rhino Trust Namibia.

“Baxu and the Giants” is a 30-minute film directed by Florian Schott. It was commissioned by the Legal Assistance Centre Namibia to reach an audience worldwide and bring awareness to the issue of poaching in rural Namibia and underlying social issues that can lead to poaching.

“Baxu and the Giants” is a story of a 9-year-old girl, living in rural Damaraland with her brother and grandmother. In fact, the name Baxu is short for "!Khubaxu", which means "I come from the soil". She is fascinated by nature and the giants of the Savannah, the rhinos that she talks to in her dreams. She lives a peaceful life until strange men show up and cause a change in the village.
