Audition-Poster

The National Theatre of Namibia is excited to share details about our first project of the year: auditions for an upcoming theatre play titled “God of Women”https://www.ntn.org.na/show/auditions-for-god-of-women/.

This play, written by the renowned Namibian playwright Prof. Sifiso Nyathi and directed by theatre veteran Keamogetsi Joseph Molapong, explores the complexities of customary polygamy within Namibian traditional society. The story follows Lewanika, a village chief, as he navigates the challenges of multiple marriages involving fate, authority, and belief.

The production will be showcased under NTN's Main Program https://www.ntn.org.na/productions/programs/. This program features world-class works of various scales, produced for the NTN stage and beyond. It includes new works, adaptations, and devised pieces, with the primary aim of providing local audiences the chance to experience diverse and internationally recognized stories created by professional artists, offering compelling and culturally significant narratives.

As part of NTN's ongoing mission to highlight diverse Namibian talent, ‘God of Women’ is also a prescribed text for secondary school English Second Language learners, merging cultural education with artistic expression. The play will be staged for free to High Schools at the NTN from 02-04 and 09-11 April 2025.

Attached, you will find the media release and poster containing all relevant details. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share this information with your contacts to bring attention to the auditions and the production’s cultural significance.
