Research programme for visiting the University of Turku (Finland)

The Coimbra Group Universities have been providing, since 2008, young researchers from universities in Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to spend a short period (generally 1 to 3 months) at a Coimbra Group University to carry out part of their research there.

The online application is now open until  5 April 2024 at midnight (Brussels time) on the Coimbra Group website.

The University of Turku in Finland is part of this network. The applicant should be a researcher at a higher education institution, research centre, international institution or organisation, and have a particular interest in sustainable development and developing research and innovation cooperation between their home organisation and the University of Turku. The visit must take place during the autumn semester of 2024.

The applicant will need an invitation letter from a professor/researcher at the University of Turku, who is willing to host the applicant. Prof. Leila Koivunen (European and World History, leila.koivunen@utu.fi) is willing to host applicants in her field (history, visual studies, museum studies) and she can help find another staff member to host those who represent other fields of study.
