Remembering Cassinga Day

04 May 1978

Cassinga Day is a national Namibian public holiday, remembering the Cassinga Massacre. Observed on the 4th of May annually, the date pays homage to the lives lost in 1978, as a result of the South African Defence Force’s attack on a SWAPO refugee camp at Cassinga, southern Angola.
